08 Apr Myanmar: the interrupted democracy
On Friday, 9 April 2021 at 19.00 MOKA ASBL, Walking Cat Production and Associazione per l’Amicizia Italia Birmania will host an event dedicated to Myanmar and the story of the tragic events following the military coup on February 1st.
With the contribution of experts and witnesses we will try to trace a path that crosses the recent history of Myanmar. A country that, until a few years ago, had embarked on a tiring but full of hope path towards a democratic horizon. A project that was shattered within a few days between the strenuous and courageous protests of the civil movement of disobedience and the harsh military repression.
The event will be moderated by Paola Gaffurini, Co-Founder of MOKA and will see the contributions of the following speakers:
Corrado Galli and Luca Vassalini: respectively director of photography and screenwriter of the documentary “The Ladies Diary”.
Andrea Castronovo: graduate in international political sciences. Expert in the historical-political context of Myanmar.
Virginia Whitworth King: of Burmese origin, native English teacher, interpreter and travel organizer (mainly in Burma). Member of the Association for Friendship Italy Burma Giuseppe Malpeli and member of the Burmese Community in Italy.
Senator Roberto Rampi: Member of the Extraordinary Commission for Human Rights and of the Culture Commission in the Senate and Member of the Italian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Senator Albertina Soliani: former Senator and former President of the Parliamentary Association of Friends of Burma. She is the National Vice President of the ANPI and President of the Alcide Cervi Institute.
The live event will be held in Italian and streamed on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDOwiqB2YzM
