11 Nov BRESCIA PEACE FESTIVAL: DEBATE AND SCREENING OF THE DOCUMENTARY ‘THE LADIES DIARY’
MOKA Asbl and Walking Cat Productions invite you to attend the screening of ‘The Ladies Diary’, a documentary portraying the story of 6 women from Myanmar. The event will take place on Sunday, 14 November, 2021, at 21:00 at Cinema Nuovo Eden, on the occasion of Brescia Peace Festival and will feature the participation of one of the protagonists of the doc.
Info and background:
On 1 February 2021 the military junta in Myanmar took power through a coup d’etat, thwarting the democratization process that began with the student revolts of 1988.
Through the screening of the documentary ‘The Ladies Diary’, we will go back over Myanmar’s recent past when the dream of a modern and democratic country was still bright.
At the end of the screening, Yin Myo Su, one of the protagonists of the documentary, will give us her insights about the events unfolding in the country.
The documentary will be screened in its original language with Italian subtitles followed by a debate in Italian. Translation from and to English will be guaranteed to our special guest Yin Myo Su.
The event is hosted by the Brescia Peace Festival with the support of the European Parliament.

Una serata dedicata alla storia di 6 donne del Myanmar raccontata attraverso le immagini del documentario ‘The Ladies Diary’ con la partecipazione speciale di una delle protagoniste.

1° Febbraio 2021. Con un colpo di stato la giunta militare prende il potere in Myanmar, vanificando un percorso di democratizzazione scaturito dalle rivolte studentesche nel lontano 1988.
Attraverso la visione del documentario ‘The Ladies Diary’ ripercorreremo un passato recente, quando il sogno di un Paese moderno e democratico era ancora luminoso. Al termine della proiezione Yin Myo Su, una delle protagoniste del documentario, ci fornirà il suo punto di vista rispetto agli ultimissimi avvenimenti grazie al racconto della sua storia personale.
Il documentario sarà proiettato in lingua originale con sottotitoli in italiano. A seguire il dibattito con Yin Myo Su con traduzione dall’inglese all’italiano.
L’evento è promosso dal Festival della Pace di Brescia con il patrocinio del Parlamento europeo.
